Conversational Recorder

Saturday, July 26th- 9:45 – 10:45 AM – SESSION I
Participants will be lead through a review of the 12 step process and how it applies to a modified 5 steps in the presenters recorder instruction. Participants will engage in several activities that model each step. Video demonstrations of the presenter’s students will be shown.
Participants will leave with:
1. A better understanding of the 12-step process and how it can be applied to recorder instruction.
2. Hands on activities and folk arrangements to take back to their students.
3. An understanding of how the recorder may be used as a great tool to reinforce previously learned literacy concepts via the 12 steps.
4. Enthusiasm toward recorder instruction.
Rachel Grimsby has 13 years experience in elementary music education. She holds degrees from East Carolina University and The Hartt School of Music. She has obtained certification in all four Orff levels as well as all three Kodaly levels. She has also obtained certification in all three FAME levels and is a teacher trainer for Conversational Solfege levels one and two. She has presented at regional, state and national conferences.
Rachel is also blessed with an amazing family; her husband Greg, daughter Annabelle and son Benjamin.
